Body

Start with Medium Purple Yarn

Chain 8

-Starting from the 2nd chain from the hook, sc (put in a stitch marker, this is the first stitch).  Sc in the next 5 stitches, inc in the next stitch.  Now you are moving to the other side of the foundation chain.  Sc in the next 5 stitches, inc in the last stitch. [15]
-Inc in the first stitch, sc in the next 5 stitches, inc, inc, sc in the next 6 stitches, inc in last stitch. [19]
-Inc in the first stitch, sc in the next 7 stitches, inc, inc, sc in the next 8 stitches, inc in last stitch. [23]
-Inc, Inc, sc in the next 7 stitches, inc, inc, inc, inc, sc in the next 8 stitches, inc, inc. [31]
-In the back loop only, single crochet in all the stitches [31]

This completes the base of the llama, from this point forward you will be using the double loop stitch to create the "fur." I found this video to be extremely helpful.

Turn your work!  When you complete a double loop stitch, the loops form on the inside of the work, so to get the llama to have fur, you will need to turn your work.  From this point forward, you will be doing a chain one to start each round.

-Chain 1, double loop stitch in all the stitches using Medium Purple yarn.
-Change to Grape Punch yarn, Chain 1, double loop stitch in all the stitches.
-Change to Royal yarn, Chain 1, double loop stitch in all the stitches.
-Change to Turqua yarn, Chain 1, double loop stitch in all the stitches.
-Change to Medium Purple yarn, Chain 1, double loop stitch in all the stitches.
-Change to Grape Punch yarn, Chain 1, double loop stitch in all the stitches. Slip stitch with Grape Punch and fasten off.

-Count back 8 stitches from slip stitch.  This is now your new first stitch, attach the Royal yarn to this stitch, with a chain 1.  Double loop stitch in the next 16 stitches, Chain 5.
Note:  This chain 5, is used to split the body in half.  That way half of it will be the neck (which you will continue to work on now) and then the other half you will deal with later.
-Join Turqua yarn (to the new first stitch you made with the Royal), Chain 1, double loop stitch in all stitches, double loop stitches in the chain 5 too.
-Join Medium Purple yarn, Chain 1, double loop stitch in all stitches.  Repeat 4 times (for a total of 5 rounds of double loop in light purple).
- This round is done with regular single crochet, no loop stitch.  (sc in next 1 stitch, dec) repeat around
- No loop stitch - dec around
Fasten Off

Go Back to where you started the neck (on the body), there should be a gaping hole. Time to close it up. Attach the

Medium Purple yarn to any of the stitches on the purple side.
-Sc in all the stitches, including in the Royal yarn chains
-(sc in next 1 stitch, dec) repeat around
-Dec around
-Dec around
Fasten Off

This is what gives it a more oval shape.

For the pupils I did a french knot with the Black yarn, and then I secure the knot by adding one more stitch to tamp it down.
Sew onto the head.

Harness

With Grey Heather yarn

Chain as many as you need to wrap around the back of the head and mouth. I ended up needing
55 chains. I left a long tail to sew it to the head.

Legs (Make 4)

Worked in continuous rounds

Start with Black Yarn

6 sc in a magic ring.  [6]
Switch to Royal yarn
Sc in all stitches for a total of 8 rounds, stuffing lightly as you go.
Fasten off.

Supply Case

Start with Grey Heather Yarn

Worked back and forth

Chain 6
Starting in the second chain from hook, sc in all stitches. [5]
Turn work, chain 1. Sc in all stitches [5], repeat for a total of 28 rows.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
When I sewed this to the back of the llama, I pinched the sides where the supply case is a bit more square, then I added a few stitches to get it to stay that way.

Attach all the parts and you are done.  I hope you enjoy the pattern and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  kristenmtg@gmail.com

Thanks!!
